The Office Sponsor Research Specialist works with investigators in all phases of grant development providing pre-award support and services to investigators on grants and contracts, and guiding investigators and staff during contract negotiations and proposal preparation and submission. The Office Sponsor Research Specialist also, resolves complex, sensitive, and other non-routine issues related to contract negotiation or administration; serves as an information resource for the research community; conducts in-service training seminars; negotiates contracts and budgets; and prepares budgets for grants. In addition, the Office Sponsor Research Specialists is responsible for coordinating assigned activity related to externally funded operation of the Department and the Baylor Scott & White Research Institute (BSWRI), using electronic research search engines to locate funding sources, and building collaborative relationships with investigators, government agencies and industry sponsors. The ideal candidate for the Office Sponsor Research Specialist role will have a Master’s Degree in Accounting, 5 plus years of experience in sponsored research administration, and a Certified Research Administrator certification.
