Position Summary:
Provides technical direction and administration to cardiac cath lab personnel, ensuring a system of service delivery operates efficiently and effectively. Reviews and revises, as necessary, cath lab standards and ensures procedures performed comply with all hospital, system, and regulatory agency standards. Coordinates provision of cath lab services with other medical functions and serves as a technical resource for departmental personnel. Meets and consults peers for policies, procedures, forms, instrumentation, equipment, and supplies to promote standardization across the system.
Department Oversight & Compliance:
- Plans and administers directly, and through subordinate supervisory personnel, the effective management and delivery of diagnostic and treatment cath lab procedures in accordance with all hospital, system, and regulatory agency standards.
- Fosters smoothly running cath lab function through timely and effective resolution of disruptions.
- Ensures that all cath lab activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, federal, and governmental regulations and laws.
Staff Management:
- Ensures the attainment of objectives through the selection, development, training and evaluation of cath lab staff.
Financial Responsibility:
- Ensures quality, financial, and customer service objectives are met.
- Develops, secures approval of, and administers capital and operating budgets in order to meet agreed-upon departmental goals and objectives. Develops and implements appropriate methods to monitor adherence to budgets and resolve variances.
- Reviews and approves recommendations for department equipment modifications, new supplies, and minor equipment purchases.
- Recommends and secures approval of major capital expense items initiating bidding process with vendors and upon approval, awarding bids.
Technical
- Serves as a technical resource to subordinates in resolving complex problems and in investigating and recommending corrective actions in response to incident reports and/or patient complaints.
