The Jonathan M. Wainwright VA Medical Center in Walla Walla, WA is currently recruiting for two intermittent Registered Nurses (RN) to serve in the Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (MHRRTP). The RN provides direct care to residents, and assists in development, implementation and evaluation of policies, procedures, and guidelines of the MHRRTP. Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Promotes excellence in customer service and attempts to resolve issue at the unit level Receives and communicates change of shift report Delegates nursing an other duties appropriate to licensure, performance standards, grade level, and experience Completes the appropriate nursing process, following nursing standards of care for every resident in the Substance Abuse Residential Treatment Program (PRRTP) Ensures documentation is accurate, complete, and timely Completes nursing admission assessments Assesses residents' ability to manage their medications and determines levels of medication management Safely inventories and administers medications using Omnicell, BCMA and CPRS according to VHA directives and local policies Administers and tracks immunizations Sets measurable goals, objectives, and outcomes with residents utilizing the Mental Health Suite Creates individualized treatment plans for SARRTP and PRRTP residents, coordinating nursing care, and identifying barriers to education Provides evidence-based practice in identifying and prioritizing residents' problems and needs, completing re-assessments, and responding to any changes Documents pertinent information including care provided, changes in condition, and response to interventions and treatments Provides resident/family education based on the identified needs Completes transfer and discharge summaries Provides education to residents regarding advance directives Monitors the therapeutic milieu, maintaining a safe respectful environment of interaction between residents of various programs Communicates and collaborates with mental health providers, medical staff, addiction therapists, social workers, other behavioral health staff members, facility personnel, VA police, and family or significant others for care coordination and safety Serves as the resident's advocate, solving problems at the lowest level, in collaboration with supervisors and other personnel Participates in process improvement Provides education on wellness, disease prevention and treatment, chronic care management, and self-management skills Provides psycho-education and direct advice regarding addiction, symptoms of depression and anxiety, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and other diagnoses and problems Work Schedule: Intermittent Schedule.
