Opportunity to join an established Pediatric Cardiology clinical practice comprised of ambulatory clinic, fetal/transthoracic echo performance/interpretation, inpatient consultations/rounding(limited) and virtual medicine. Pediatric Cardiology at Southern California Permanente Medical Group currently consists of 11 full time and 2 per diem part-time Pediatric Cardiologists across the Southern California region. Together, we care for the KP Southern California population which currently spans 4.6 million members and over 1 million pediatric members.
We are recruiting a full-time Pediatric Cardiologist to join our group in Fontana and Orange County (OC). KP Fontana Medical Center is a member of the Children's Hospital Association and is one of three tertiary medical centers in the Kaiser Permanente Pediatric Care (KPPC) network. KP Anaheim Medical Center is a designated specialty medical center in the KPPC network. At Fontana and OC, we serve as the primary centers of care for the diverse pediatric population in San Bernardino County and Orange County. Our inpatient services include pediatric hospitalists, NICU, PICU (Fontana only) and emergency department. We anticipate 3 days per week of on location work at Fontana and 2 days per week of on location work in Anaheim. We place great emphasis on fostering a strong culture of collaboration and support among pediatric medical and surgical specialties not only between Fontana and OC areas but also across the KP Southern California region. Our main Cardiac facility within Kaiser and location of our interventional catheterization lab is at KP Los Angeles Medical Center with whom we have ready access and collaboration. Finally, we play an active role in training the next generation of physicians both in teaching resident physicians and as a designated clerkship site for the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine.
Potential clinical roles include:
- Outpatient consultation and follow-up care
- Inpatient consultation and rounding - limited
- Performing Fetal and Transthoracic echo
- Providing virtual medical care
- Physician-physician advice via telephone and electronic advice communication tools
- Shared call schedule with other KP pediatric Cardiology physicians
- Opportunity for mentorship and clinical teaching of KP School of Medicine students.
- Bimonthly Regional Cardiac conference and discussion

About the area
SCPMG San Bernardino County(Fontana) serves a population in the northeastern section of the LA Basin that's as diverse topographically as culturally. High-desert hiking, skiing at Big Bear, water-skiing on Lake Arrowhead, and mountain biking on Mt. Baldy are all close by--as are very affordable options for home-buying. Physicians and staff members enjoy the seasons, with fall colors and prominent views of snow-capped mountains. The area also offers a variety of dining, entertainment, and cultural options.
The Orange County area is one of the most sought-after communities on the west coast. Located along the Pacific Ocean, the weather enables year-round outdoor recreation, and there's easy access to great cuisine, the arts, professional sports, and culturally diverse events. It's close to big cities to its north and south, but without the traffic and other issues that big cities present. The area has a great variety of housing options: near the ocean, in open space amongst foothills, and in urban settings.
