The Department of Women’s Health encompasses the full range of subspecialties including specialists in Academic General Obstetrics and Gynecology, Minimally Invasive Gynecology Surgery, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, Gynecologic Oncology, Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Women’s Health Services (DWH) will be responsible for the medical leadership, clinical oversight, and patient care for Women’s Health services at CommUnityCare. DHW establishes the clinical standards of care, infrastructure for performance improvement, and a framework to support optimal wellness of the primary care providers. Working closely with the CMO, DWH creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the WH department in pursuit of CommUnityCare’s strategic goals. This includes overseeing the integration of ambulatory services with hospital services, inclusive of effective and synergistic collaborations with key healthcare and community partners such as Dell Medical School, Ascension Seton, and St. David’s Healthcare, participates in the training of medical students, residents, and fellows, and serves as the primary administrative liaison between the faculty of the Department of Women’s Health at Dell Medical School and CommUnityCare. In collaboration with data analytics, clinical, operations and nursing leadership, DWH develops and ensures continuous quality performance improvement practices through highly effective metrics and workflows, supported by education and accountability structures, to meet or exceed performance goals. Successful candidates should be eligible for a faculty appointment at The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School. The DWH reports to the Chief Medical Officer at CommUnityCare and the Chair of the Department of Women’s Health at Dell Medical School.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Establish clinical standards of care for Women’s Health services, inclusive of care pathways, protocols, and evidence-based and best practices, to establish and maintain the highest standards of quality, performance, and cost-effectiveness
Establish, update, and meet or exceed key clinical, operational, and financial goals and objectives for the Women’s Health service line
Advise senior leadership related to strategic direction of Women’s Health services
Serve as the liaison between the faculty of the Department of Women’s Health at the Dell Medical School and CommUnityCare
Develop and institute performance improvement metrics and processes focused on a high performing, high quality service delivery model
Lead clinical and operational quality improvement initiatives for the service line in promotion of optimal outcomes, including but not limited to continuity of care and patient retention
Track and oversee quality team-based care delivery, inclusive of multi-disciplinary care coordination
Establish and promote gold-standard clinical workflows in pursuance of high performance and optimal outcomes
Ensure standardization of best practices throughout the Women’s Health services division, incorporating regulatory requirements at the local, state, and national level utilizing benchmarking data and analysis from applicable sources
Promote collaboration with appropriate community partners to augment CommUnityCare’s women’s health services and advance the organizational mission and vision
Partner with clinical services leadership to support a comprehensive, effective Provider Wellness Program
Develop and implement budgets, policies, and procedures that promote optimal service delivery
Supervise all women’s health providers, inclusive of effective performance evaluations and promotion of professional development
Participate in the training of medical students, residents and fellows
In collaboration with clinical operations and nursing, promote excellence in medical education among all learners
Collaborate with operations and finance leadership to ensure resourcefulness of the department, inclusive of access and quality measures
Exemplify service delivery excellence
Collaborate with broader leadership to advance service excellence and optimize patient experience
Oversee supervisory structure for departmental advance practice providers, inclusive of supervision delegation
In collaboration with Human Resources and Operations, recruit, hire, and train appropriate women’s health provider staff to achieve retention goals
Serve as active participant of clinical leadership committees and meetings as delegated by the CMO
Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
M.D. or D.O. from an accredited educational institution.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
2 years of clinical experience
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
5 years of clinical experience with 2 years in leadership/mentorship. Spanish language proficiency or fluency strongly preferred.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: 1. Unrestricted License to practice medicine in the state of Texas. 2. Board Certification in OB/GYN or Family Medicine (with Women’s Health Fellowship) or passage of Board Certification examination within two (2) years of employment. 3. Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration for the purpose of writing prescriptions.
