Indiana University Health is seeking an individual who embodies these values to join our Human Resources Senior Team in the role of Vice President - Clinical Workforce Development.

The Vice President of Clinical Workforce Development is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, development, and implementation of clinical workforce initiatives. This role aims to ensure a highly skilled, motivated, and sustainable clinical workforce that meets the evolving needs of the healthcare industry. The Vice President will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive workforce development programs, enhance clinical training, and support career advancement opportunities.

The following key accountabilities outline the scope and impact of this leadership role:

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and execute a comprehensive clinical workforce development strategy aligned with IU Health's goals and objectives.

  • Lead initiatives to attract, retain, and develop top clinical talent across the organization.

  • Monitor industry trends and best practices to ensure IU Health remains competitive in clinical workforce development.

Program Development and Implementation

• Design and implement innovative clinical training programs, including internships, residencies, and continuing education opportunities.

• Oversee the development of career pathways and professional development programs for clinical team members.

• Ensure programs are aligned with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Build and maintain strong relationships with educational institutions, professional organizations, and other external partners.

• Collaborate with internal departments, including by not limited to Human Resources, Clinical Operations, and Quality, to support workforce development initiatives.

• Advocate for clinical workforce needs and priorities within IU Health.

Performance Management

• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of workforce development programs.

• Conduct regular assessments and evaluations to identify areas for improvement and ensure continuous enhancement of programs.

• Report on program outcomes and impact to senior leadership and stakeholders.

Budget and Resource Management

• Develop and manage the budget for clinical workforce development programs.

• Allocate resources effectively to support program goals and objectives.

• Seek and secure funding opportunities, including grants and partnerships, to support workforce development initiatives.

Leadership and Team Management

• Lead and mentor a team of 15-20 workforce development professionals, providing guidance and support to achieve departmental goals.

• Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that promotes innovation and excellence.

• Ensure team members have access to professional development opportunities and resources.

Reports to: Senior Vice President - Chief Human Resources Officer

Candidate Qualifications

Candidates for the position will be evaluated according to the following criteria and competencies.

Education and Experience

• Master's degree in healthcare administration, Public Health, Human Resources, or a related field. A clinical background (e.g., RN, MD) is preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in workforce development, clinical training, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Proven track record of developing and implementing successful workforce development programs in a healthcare setting.
• Strong understanding of clinical operations, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
• Experience managing budgets and securing funding for workforce development initiatives.
