The Opportunity
The MetroHealth System has partnered with AMN Leadership Solutions in a search for a new Executive Vice President, Chief Clinical Officer and Chief Physician Executive (EVP/CCO). This is an exciting opportunity to support MetroHealth’s vision to become the most admired public health system in the nation, renowned for advancing and becoming the national model for health equity and eradicating health disparities, being the community’s choice, driving innovation, and delivering exceptional care and outcomes by delivering clinical and academic excellence and exceptional patient/care team experiences, and sustaining and accelerating growth. The EVP/CCO will develop, lead and execute a vision to manage and grow the clinical and provider enterprise at MetroHealth. This is a highly visible, interactive and inclusive executive position that requires direct and continuous interaction with leadership of all components of the organization.
The Organization

The system includes 4 hospitals and 25 outpatient facilities and is enjoying outstanding clinical growth and financial strength. The 700-bed flagship hospital is noted for its Level I Trauma practice. MetroHealth is undergoing a billion-dollar transformation that includes the new hospital tower, the new free-standing behavioral health hospital and other additional state-of-the-art facilities. MetroHealth is an Academic Medical Center and principal teaching hospital for Case Western University School of Medicine. Faculty appointments are awarded through CWRSOM.
The Position
Reporting directly to the System Chief Executive Officer & President, the Executive Vice President, Chief Clinical Officer & Chief Physician Executive provides strategic executive-level leadership and oversight for the clinical and provider enterprise functions at The MetroHealth System, inclusive of the Chairpersons and Clinical Departments, Organized Medical Staff, Advanced Practice Providers, Professional Affairs, Physician/Provider Enterprise, Provider Enterprise Operations, Medical Diversity & Inclusion, Clinical Integration and Service Lines/Clinical Institutes/Centers in conjunction with the System COO.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate must be an outstanding clinician and a team builder who is able to lead in a complex and dynamic environment. The EVP/CCO will be comfortable working in a dyad model which includes collaboration with operational leaders supporting clinical operations. Requirements include MD, DO or equivalent; license to practice, or ability to obtain a license to practice medicine in the state of Ohio; Board certified in a discipline of medicine. This physician leader must have a distinguished record of clinical and academic leadership experience and be eligible for academic appointment at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Experience leading a clinical enterprise, including budget preparation, management and faculty leadership is necessary. Progressive management experience in multispecialty group practice environments, is valued.
